My training began with a Bachelor in Science and a Master in Social Work from University of Texas at Austin. I have been practicing clinical therapy as an LMSW for approximately five years and am currently seeking advanced licensure as an LCSW as well as EMDR certificiation. My experience comes from a variety work at MD Anderson, Lighthouse Hospice, Seton, Hope Alliance and Austin Pain Associates.
In addition to helping clients process and work through more general problems such as depression, anxiety, and relationship distress, I specialize in areas related to chronic/terminal illness, chronic pain, and grief. I am a member of the Association of Oncology Social Work, and have found an honored place supporting those through all stages of cancer diagnosis and treatment, including terminally ill patients as well as those in remission. I have substantial experience working with gut-brain axis disorders, and am currently pursuing certification in that area of expertise, as I enjoy working with the connections between nutrition, mood, and illness.
In addition to my work as a counselor, I hold an Integrative Yoga Therapist certification, RYT-200 and have a specialty certification in anxiety, panic and trauma. I have been practicing yoga and meditation for 15 years and often utilize it in conjunction with therapy to offer the client a stronger and more integrated connection for the mind, body and spirit. My training and experience allow me to deepen my therapeutic offerings in effort to provide a richer healing experience for my clients.
